10th Internet Chess Tournament “Ciudad de Dos Hermanas”

After twelve qualifiers, with more than 2000 registrations, 32 players will fight for the 2.000 euros first prize of the 10th Internet Chess Tournament “Ciudad de Dos Hermanas”, the most important event of its kind in the world, hosted by ICC www.chessclub.com.  With this event, the Seville city and its Sports Council continue to promote chess as an educational tool and sports promotion, combining it with the on-the-board Open that will be held on the 28th of March (details here  http://www.doshermanas.net/actividades.asp?id=51) with more than 15 GM's already registered.

Back to the Internet event, after the drop-out of IM Robert Hess, substituted by GM Kirill Bryzgalin, we have one of the strongest line-ups of the history of the tournament. Of the 32 qualifiers, none less than 26 have the maximum chess category: the GM title. Along with the current champion, two years winner and ex-prodigy Jorge Sammour-Hasbun (2460), qualifiers include GM Hikaru Nakamura (2699), one of the fastest players in the World, see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZo8O-p9qy4. Other great players include GM Ivan Cheparinov (2679), ex-World Champion Topalov's trainer, and GM Daniel Fridman (2650) who has already won this event before. The Armenian squad can't be left our either, headed by GM Gabriel Sargissian (2677)
